It's great to have you back! Hope your time off for family has been enjoyable and rewarding for you and for them.

Thank you for shining a light on these dark corners of the American Empire, where shadowy spooks wage war on the regular people of the world, including non-elite Americans, to benefit the private interests of globalist oligarchs and petty tyrants. Someday, there will be statues of you in America to honor you as a first-rate patriot, hopefully in your lifetime.

Thank you for this Ed. I’m a tutor and I speak of you to my students many times a week - year in, year out. I never forget about you and don’t allow those around me to do so either. Your incredible bravery and sense of duty should be publicly commended, not kept a dark and dirty secret. You are not only a remarkably intelligent human being, but your selflessness and compassion for your fellow human being is, in my view, quite unparalleled. Please continue to enlighten us with your interesting articles and musings. And please know that there are many of us who think of you, support you, and will always remain indebted to your sacrifices in the name of the public, of human, fairness and freedom. Be well.

I'm with everybody who is happy to see you back. That "Fifth Estate" link is brilliant. I'm Canadian, old and remember all of this shit. I have your book. I love your writing. You're my hero. Keep on truckin'.

So glad you are back! Missed your stuff among the welter of "commentary" we get these days. So glad you are pointing out the participation of "both sides" in this (wasn't it Hillary who said of Assange - couldn't we just drone him?) How ironic that you and your family seem to be doing better in the heart of the "evil empire" than Assange and his family are doing in the bowels of a "model democracy" - sadly, pointing out the enormous hypocrisy in all this does little to light the flames of rebellion when "both sides" are parties to it ... There are some other voices out there, but, like Cassandra's, they are silenced with a shower of curses ....

Thanx again, and keep it up - your clarity on these issues hopefully will penetrate even the densest minds ... but we are running out of time ....

Wow- every time I read what you write, as unsettling as some of these things are, I feel like you are making me a better American. I hope this makes sense to you. And I hope nothing but good things for you and your family.

While the CIA is usually thought of as an agency concerned only with foreign matters (that was its original mandate), this remarkable post could have been strengthened by fuller recounting of what the CIA has done domestically to American society.

The Truman article you reference was published in the Wash Post (first edition only; then it was pulled) one month after JFK was murdered. Talk about overthrowing governments! I think Truman knew who did it and was trying to rein in the agency. It was too late.

When they saw the extent of their control over information thru their media stenographers (even more complete today), and how easy it was to get away with just about anything in the name of national security, they were emboldened: MLK, RFK, probably Malcolm, Fred Hampton. Destroying any remnants of the left.

We see the effects today in the constant wars to protect and expand the empire they have created. The empire has roots in domestic control in which the CIA/war machine has a vital role.

@ Edward Snowden 🎯👍 (20 Sep 22 10 AM PDT)

Very well said Ed✔ Your "Open Wound" personification speaks volumes regarding the festering malignant infection being foisted both on our society and humanity writ large. The surprise of your return to this venue has made my day Good Sir🙌

Hopefully the collection of so-called investigative journalists currently populating what is passing for our current "4th Estate" will actually comprehensively read this cogent and succinct offering of extraordinary and informed prose.

THANK YOU for returning to the fray!! Our people need your voice if they are to awaken from the induced confusion and misinformed sleep in which they reside.

As Usual,

Thom☠ (aka ethanallenspeaks)

P.S. By the way Kudos to you for mentioning the horrible plight of Julian Assange; perpetuated secretly, as you noted, by those of the "Open Wound" in the name of our entire society.🕸

Mr Snowden,

I will freely admit when things first hit the fan back in 2013 I thought ill of you, would have considered you a traitor. Damn how things can change. The more I watch what is happening to this country and what is continually being exposed about the “intelligence” community, I am happy about what you did. I am also terribly saddened about whats been done to you. Anyway, first time I read one of your pieces, very poignant and thoughtful. I look forward to reading more from you. My best wishes for you and yours. And I pray for the day when you can return.

Greg

I am so overjoyed with seeing your post. You've been missed more than you know.

I am struggling to understand how many once civil liberty minded people now bend the knee to the CIA. My real concern is the corporate take over of the media and the CIA's positioning in the delivery of what is shared and what is not.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and adding a voice to the craziness that is unfolding.

I'm so glad you're back! Just beyond words. After reading your book, it became clear, Ed, that the CIA is not a friend, like many others, whom we by definition consider friends, or at least very good people. Unfortunately. You know this like no other, and thank you for choosing to come back.

Thank you, Ed!
